Compounding for Nausea & Vomiting (Women)
What is the Difference Between Nausea & Vomiting?
Nausea is an uneasiness of the stomach that often accompanies the urge to vomit, but doesn't always lead to vomiting. Vomiting is the forcible emptying of stomach contents through the mouth.  Nausea and vomiting are not diseases, but rather are symptoms of many different conditions.

Who is Likely to Experience Nausea & Vomiting?
Nausea and vomiting can occur in both children and adults. People who are undergoing cancer treatments, such as radiation therapy or chemotherapy, have an increased risk of nausea and vomiting. Pregnant women in their first trimester may also experience nausea and vomiting, commonly referred to as "morning sickness”.   Some other common ailments which can cause nausea and vomiting are motion sickness, migraine headache, stomach flu, and stress.

Compounding Medications for Nausea & Vomiting
Your medical provider may determine that it is in your best interest to treat your nausea & vomiting, and prescribe you a medication.  However, taking an oral medication while you are nauseous or vomiting may not be possible.

Our pharmacists have the ability to compound several different types of medications into unique delivery forms that may improve compliance.  Topical gels/creams can simply be rubbed into the skin making administration of the medication much more pleasant.  Suppositories can be compounded for those patients who need a more discreet way to administer a medication.  We also have the ability to combine certain medications into one delivery form, potentially increasing the overall effectiveness of the compounded medication.
